A charity evening organised by the hotel and the Pendle Forest and Craven Hunt raised a staggering £25,000.

And the money has now been handed over to children’s cancer charity, Candlelighters.

“This amount will pay for around 50 family holidays this year,” said Candlelighters operations manager, Jo Shepheard.

“Each family with a child with cancer finds that a short break in the UK really helps during sometimes hard and lengthy treatments. Families need to be able to get back to hospital easily and we can arrange weekend or week long breaks.”

She added: “We were amazed by the generosity of those who attended the auction and we know this will directly help our families in Yorkshire this year. It is a pleasure to receive such a wonderful donation and we are so pleased we can continue to offer this support to families.”

Nick Bannister, hotel and country estate director, said: “My family and the team at the hotel are delighted that the money has gone to such a good cause, and we know it will give a real boost to so many families who need such a boost from time to time.”
