A series of free Sunday morning bike rides will take place this summer as part of the legacy of the Grand Depart of the Tour de France.

Two of the Sky Rides are set to take place in June before Tour de France weekend on July 5 and July 6 - while the remaining three will take place after the event.

They will be of varying distances and level of difficulty, will be led by a British Cycling guide and have been organised jointly by Craven District Council and North Yorkshire County Council.

“Sky rides are a great way for people to get back on their bikes and enjoy a fully guided ride around quiet, local country lanes and villages," said Craven's sports development officer, Bruce Dinsmore.

"Two of the rides are before the Tour de France comes through Skipton and the Dales with three of the rides straight after Le Tour. ”

Beginning on Sunday, June 8 with a ten mile ride, they will take place on June 22, July 13, July 20, July 20, and July 27. All will start at 10am outside Dave Ferguson Cycles, Albion Yard, Skipton.
