Timber stacked next to a wood-burning stove caught fire in the lounge of a house in Silsden.
A fire engine from Silsden and a Keighley-based pump responded to the incident at the semi-detached house in Fletcher Avenue.
Watch commander Steve Moorhouse, of Keighley Fire Station, said his crew was called out at 9.30pm on Thursday.
He said the Silsden fire engine was already at the scene, and two women who had been in the house were both outside and were unhurt.
“It was mainly smoke damage,” he added. “We moved the timber outside, dampened it down, cleared the area around the stove then used a ventilation fan to remove the smoke.
“There were smoke alarms in the house, and they did work.”
