COUNCILLOR John Dawson has been elected as town mayor of Skipton.
Coun Dawson was elected unanimously as the annual meeting of the town council.
He had served as deputy mayor during the past 12 months and had already been covering a number of mayoral duties following the resignation of the previous mayor, John Kerwin-Davey, in March.
Coun Dawson was elected as a councillor at the last full elections in May 2011 and is a member of the council’s Conservative Group, representing North Ward. He is a former senior manager at Skipton Building Society.
Coun Karen McIntyre was elected as the new deputy mayor.
