PEOPLE are continuing to campaign to retain the dementia ward at Airedale General Hospital instead of it transferring to Lynfield Mount in Bradford.

The Ward 24 Carers Action Group has collected 5,500 signatures in favour of keeping it at the Steeton hospital.

And they were at Skipton's Morrisons' supermarket earlier this month,

Rev David Griffiths, who is helping spearhead the campaign, said: "This move is wasting £2,500,000 of NHS money, adding to carers' travelling time and distress and taking the ward out of a general hospital environment. "

The petition will be presented to the Bradford District Care Trust to coincide with its Care Quality Commission inspection, beginning on June 16
