A FIREFIGHTER who has "enjoyed just about every minute" of his job is retiring from his full-time role after 25 years.
Martin Shaw, of Silsden, is calling time on a career that has seen him serve at Bingley and Illingworth.
"It has been great, " said the 50-year-old. "It has been a good job and a good career. I have enjoyed just about every minute of it.
"It has been very rewarding - I will miss it."
Alan Wood, watch manager at Bingley station, who started on the same training course as Mr Shaw in 1988, said: "He has been an absolutely brilliant member of the shift. We are really sorry to see him go. It is a big loss for us and our station.”
Mr Shaw, who is married to Johanna and has three sons, will continue as a retained firefighter at Silsden fire station.
