And the winners, Water Street Primary School, have secured a coveted place in the Yorkshire Tag Final in Pontefract on June 13 - which is part of the Yorkshire Tag 2 Twickenham national competition.
The tournament marked the climax of months of training designed to give year five and six boys and girls a taste of rugby.
It was organised and run by RFU Community Rugby in conjunction with Wharfedale Rugby Academy, with support from Craven College students studying a BTEC Extended Diploma in Sport Development and Coaching.
All eight teams were already winners or runners up in their local cluster tournament, which meant the standard was high.
Director of Wharfedale Rugby Academy, Hedley Verity, said: “All the games have been really tight and most decided by just a fine margin. "However Water Street Primary School played to a consistently high standard enabling them to take first place, which means they will go onto represent Craven at the Yorkshire final in June. Threshfield Primary School came in second, which sees them also representing Craven in the North Yorkshire play-offs.
"It’s a huge honour for both teams and we wish them luck in the next round.”
