YOUNGSTERS at Kettlewell Primary School have been trying to emulate Tour de France hero Sir Bradley Wiggins before the race’s Grand Depart passes through the village in July.
They have staged their own Tour de Wharfedale - a three day event led by The National Trust Rangers, Peter Katic, Cassie Williams and Chris Gibbons.
And, to get them in the mood, they received yellow hoodies from the school's Parent Teacher Association.
The aim of the event was to provide a basic introduction to bike handling and road riding with the children being taught about bike checks, brakes, tyres and the importance of wearing helmets.
Each child also learnt one handed riding so they could signal and took part in a “limbo” competition to develop an awareness of changing body position.
The event concluded with an off road ride to Redmire Wood where they enjoyed a picnic.
