CRAVEN people are being urged to have their say about policing and community safety.

The Big Police Debate, which runs until next Sunday, June 15, is being carried out by Police and Crime Commissoner Julia Mulligan.

And she hopes the views and comments of ordinary people will help form the Police and Crime Plan, which will set out the objectives for the police and crime commissioner.

"The big police debate invites everyone who lives or works in North Yorkshire to help shape the future of policing and community safety," said Mrs Mulligan.

"People may think more needs to be done to tackle antisocial behaviour in their town or village, they may be a farmer who's been a victim of rural crime."

She added: "Whatever people's circumstances, by taking part, they will help me better understand their needs and those of others local to them and help determine what the police and its partners do differently in future."

People can contribute to the debate in a number of ways, including online or by twitter or Facebook.
