A SKIPTON pupil has won £200 for his school by getting creative with nature.
Michael Pickering, a year three pupil at Greatwood Community Primary School, was runner up in the northern heat of the national Giving Nature a Home competition.
Children all over the country were invited by JDP, suppliers of civil and drainage products for the building industry, to design and draw a wild flower planter or mini garden.
John Upton, regional manager for JDP, said: "Planting mini meadows in plant pots or beds can help to transform spaces in gardens and boost the lives of pollinating insects too."
Teacher David Atkinson said: "The children were really engaged and enjoyed working on the topic very much. We are really proud of Michael and his winning design."
Michael received £200 for his school to use in an environmental project and a £20 gift voucher for himself.
