Carol Mellin, star of the ITV documentary series The Dales, will be guest of honour at a charity lunch for Petal Childhood Cancer Research at Skipton’s Rendezvous Hotel on Wednesday, June 25. Born in 1959, Carol’s parents had envisaged an academic career for their daughter. But, being a bit of a rebel, she married a dairy and sheep farmer on a remote hill farm on the Yorkshire/Lancashire border. Following her husband’s death, she and her son Philip learnt not only how to manage the farm in its entirety, but also to run sheepdogs. They have appeared on One Man and His Dog and represented England in the World Sheepdog Trials. Tickets to the lunch cost £25 and are available from karenweaving@rendezvous-skipton.com or call 07967 815559.
