AS organisers get ready for harness racing at Hellifield this weekend, funds raised from last year's event have been distributed to two local charities.
Harness racing is set to take place at Peel Park in Hellifield this Sunday (June 22), and organisers are hoping good weather will bring in around 2,000 spectators.
Committee member Gillian Wild said that last year's event, originally planned for June, had to be postponed because of poor weather.
However, it was re-scheduled for August and proceeds from the day raised £1,000 each for Yorkshire Air Ambulance and Manorlands Hospice. The cheques were recently awarded to the two charities.
Races this Sunday start at 2.30pm. Eleven races are planned and will take place at 20-minute intervals.
