A TRIBUTE has been paid to a former clerk of Barnoldswick Town Council.
Robert Nelson, who served as the council's clerk for five years before resigning because of ill health last October, has died.
Mr Nelson, of Barrowford, served on the Barrowford Parish Council and was a former Pendle councillor for that area for eight years.
But one Barnoldswick councillor praised his work in the West Craven town.
"He was a very approachable clerk and did a lot for Barnoldswick," said Coun Jennifer Purcell. "He was a nice, quiet gentleman who got on with his work and was very dedicated to it. He was an asset to Barnoldswick Town Council.
"He will be sadly missed."
