TASMIN Little, one of today's leading international violinists, will join Skipton Building Society Camerata for the orchestra's second annual summer gala concert next month.

The concert - at Skipton Town Hall on Friday, July 18 - is part of the orchestra's tenth anniversary celebrations and promises to be a spectacular musical experience.

Artistic director Ben Crick said: “This concert is the centrepiece of our celebratory year.

"It has always been our goal to attract the top names from the classical music world to Skipton – and to be able to offer seats to these concerts at reasonable prices. Thanks to the generous sponsorship from the Building Society and the Garfield Weston Foundation we are able to tick both those boxes with this offering.”

And he added: “We are delighted that Tasmin Little will be part of our anniversary celebrations in Skipton. She's a multi-award winning soloist with an impeccable international performance reputation and an incredibly hectic concert schedule - the opportunity to share the stage with a musician of this calibre is a major step forward for the orchestra and a great birthday present!

“The programme features two of the most marvellous pieces of music in the classical repertoire. The first half of the concert will feature Tasmin playing Mendelssohn's Violin Concerto in E, which is arguably the most popular and frequently performed violin concerto ever written.

"After the interval, the Camerata will perform Beethoven's 5th Symphony which is simply the most famous and influential symphonic work of them all.”

The concert starts at 7.30pm and tickets priced £20 (no concessions) are available at skiptoncamerata.com
