OVER 40 members of South Craven Walking 4 Health took part in the group's midsummer walk to Earls Crag and Lund's Tower On June 18 during a glorious sunny evening. Celebrating its sixth year since it began this has now become a regular part of the group's calendar.
All met up at Lund's Tower, admired the view and sang 'Jerusalem' to celebrate. The group then headed off to the Dog & Gun in Sutton-in-Craven where they were made very welcome and enjoyed a well deserved pie & peas supper.
Betty Hardaker, voluntary walk leader, who organised the event said: "It all went very well and was a great success that was enjoyed by all."
South Craven Walking 4 Health organise regular walks every Monday and Thursday mornings and also on Wednesday evenings through the summer. The walks are aimed specifically at people who need to undertake some physical activity for health reasons and are an easy and sociable way to get some exercise. The walking group is one of the 600+ health walk schemes in England supported by The Ramblers and Macmillan Cancer Care.
