POLICE are appealing for witnesses to a serious crash in Embsay which left two people injured.

It occurred at around 3.55pm on Sunday on Skipton Road near the Bow Bridge railway bridge.

It involved a motorcycle with a sidecar, which was travelling towards Skipton and which left the road before going through a hedge.

The motorcyclist and a male passenger in the sidecar were taken to Airedale General Hospital. The extent of their injuries is not known.

Traffic Constable Ken Riley, of the force’s roads policing group, said: “If you witnessed the collision, or saw the motorbike and sidecar prior to the incident, I ask you to contact the police straight away as you may have vital details which could help my inquiry.”

Skipton Road was closed for a number of hours while the police carried out a forensic investigation of the site.
