THE Rendezvous Hotel in Skipton is celebrating after receiving its second national award in less than a month.

Hot on the heels of winning the Individual Hotel, Accommodation Provider award at the National Coach Tourism Awards 2014 in May,

Rendezvous finished runner up as the Best Individual Hotel in the 2014 Group Travel Awards.

The runner up award was presented to Rendezvous general manager Amanda Casey and events manager Lindsay Mueller in a ceremony at the Park Plaza Riverbank Hotel in London in early June.

This award was voted for by Group Travel organisers and readers of GTO magazine.

"We're absolutely over the moon about it, and it's because our staff are so good," said Rendezvous proprietor Malcolm Weaving. "We're very proud of ourselves."

"These group tours come from all over the country, and they come because they like the area and they like the facilities."

It is the second time Rendezvous has been runner up for the Best Individual Hotel award - the first was in 2012.

The Skipton hotel, on Keighley Road, was also shortlisted in 2013.

Lindsay said: "One first and one second in the two most recognized national awards in Great Britain for accommodation for groups will certainly enhance Skipton's reputation for tourism.

"It is definitely on the cards that Skipton can become the best unique destination for a high percentage of discerning tourists in the whole of Great Britain."
