RESIDENTS and visitors to the district have again been urged to make sure they are aware of exactly which roads will be closed for the Tour de France's Grand Depart.

Saturday's stage one from Leeds to Harrogate and Sunday's stage two from York to Sheffield both come through the Craven area.

And council chiefs in Craven and North Yorkshire have urged people to make sure they know precisely how road closures could affect them.

All roads on the actual route used by the cyclists will be closed from 6am on both days, but there will be severe restrictions on roads leading to the race route also. Roads are likely to be affected from early evening tomorrow (Friday) for the installation of race infrastructure.

Cars parked on the race route itself are very likely to be towed away.

There are no exact times for when roads will be re-opened, but they are likely to be closed for about 12 hours, possibly more.

In the Craven district, the roads on Saturday's Stage One route are:

the A65 from the county boundary to the A6069 Otley Road junction.

the A6069 from the A65 to Skipton High Street.

the A6131 Skipton High Street.

the B6265 from Skipton High Street to Threshfield.

the B6160 from Threshfield to Kidstones.

On Sunday's Stage 2 Two route they are:

the A59 Blubberhouses Moor to Bolton Abbey roundabout.

the B6160 Bolton Abbey to the county boundary.

the A6034 through Silsden.

the A629 towards Keighley.

All roads leading on to race route will have severe restrictions on traffic movement.

The lead vehicles in the Tour's publicity caravan arrive at all locations on the stages about two hours ahead of the leading riders. The times that the first cyclists will arrive depends on the speed at which the race is moving, but are very approximately as follows: On Stage One Draughton (12.43), Skipton ( 12.49), Rylstone (1.02) , Cracoe (1.04), Kilnsey (1.17), Kettlewell, (1.24), Buckden (1.32) and Cray (1.36)

On Stage Two, riders will arrive at Addingham (12.45) and Silsden (12.56).

Skipton has a Spectator Hub, on the Town Hall Car Park and at the Canal Basin. Both sites will have big screens to follow the race action, plus entertainment throughout the day. There are also Spectator Hubs at Grassington National Park Centre and Ilkley's Riverside Gardens.
