SERVICES delivered by Pendle Council will be affected by next week's national strike action over public sector pay.
Nearly two-thirds of Pendle Council's staff are members of local government unions Unison, Unite and GMB and will be taking part in the strike next Thursday, July 10.
Chief executive Stephen Barnes said: “Many of our staff will be choosing to strike on Thursday, July 10, and this will affect the services we provide to local people.
“Pendle Council offices will be closed to the public and the majority of services will be unavailable.
"However, we are negotiating with the unions on which staff can be made available for health and safety reasons.
"For example, we hope to have a building control officer on standby in case of any problems with dangerous buildings.
“Services delivered by our partner Liberata, such as our contact centre and the markets, will be available as normal and some buildings, including our Contact Pendle Centre in Nelson will be open."
Refuse and recycling services across Pendle, including West Craven, will be disrupted on the day.
A council spokesman added: "The effects in West Craven will be minor - manual street cleansing, litter bins, commercial waste and possibly a few rural properties won’t be collected."
Residents are advised to use the council's free Binfo smartphone app to find out when their next collection is due.
