Skipton motor firm joins new 'family'
10:55am Friday 4th July 2014 in News
MITSUBISHI has a new and exciting presence in North Yorkshire – Midgley Motor Cars of Skipton.
The family-owned-and-run business, which was established in 1936, is up and running and raring to go – in fact, it sold an L200 on its first day!
The dealership, which has 13 members of staff, has been based at Airedale Business Centre in Millennium Way since 1995 and Dealer Principal Will Midgley said:
‘We know the Mitsubishi product and the product is reliable. It’s a well-built and respected product. We’re in the middle of the Dales, and the farming community uses L200s to work with. Mitsubishi’s SUVs and 4x4s are an important tool for the agricultural community, so that was of interest to us because it’s the kind of customers we like and deal with. Mitsubishi’s range of vehicles is ideal for them.
‘We’re looking forward to getting our teeth into things once the initial start-up dies down. It will be enjoyable, I’m sure. We sold our first L200 on our first day, so that’s a good start!’
Midgley Motor Cars is a keen supporter of local community activities. Not only does it sponsor the under-nines Upper Wharfedale rugby team, it is also supplying a new ASX to Ilkley Lawn Tennis and Squash Club, which will use it as a pool car during championship tournaments, as well as providing an L200 for the recent Grassington Festival so its stars could be collected from and taken to Leeds-Bradford Airport and the station.
Lance Bradley, managing director of Mitsubishi Motors in the UK, said: ‘I’m delighted to welcome the family business of Midgley Motor Cars into the Mitsubishi family. It is a fabulous and enthusiastic firm that is well placed to deliver outstanding service and equally outstanding vehicles to a key market. I wish all the staff well and look forward to seeing the business thrive.’
