Hall to play for on the Tour

First published in News

THOUSANDS of visitors based themselves at the Rapha Tempest Festival at Broughton Hall for the Tour de France weekend.

After spending the night camping out in the grounds, the vast majority walked or cycled into Skipton.

Meanwhile, back at Broughton, hundreds remained to enjoy the spectacle on a massive live screen.

Richard Steele, and his 14 year old daughter, Elaine, from Hull were planning to head into Skipton to watch the race.

"We'll go into Skipton and watch the race go through and will then probably go onto Harrogate, we'll just see how much is going on in Skipton first, " he said.

They had arrived on Friday afternoon and put their tent up in strong winds.

"Its been fine, apart from some rain this morning, and the cyclists won't be bothered by the rain at all," he added.

Visitors were treated to a selection of food, from Mexican to French and Yorkshire Dales icecream.
