THE Friends of Airedale Hospital have bought a £6,000 hoist for the children's ward.
It will take up to 20 stones and will help staff to lift older youngsters.
"The ward can care for children up to 18 and by then they can be 6ft tall," said Friends chairman Eileen Proud. "This hoist will help both staff and patients."
It is the seventh hoist or wheelchair to be presented by the Friends this year.
The group is currently raising money to extend its voluntary shop in the main reception area of the Steeton hospital.
"We want to make it more pleasant for patients and visitors," said Eileen. "The work is due to start in September."
