RECORDS were smashed when motorcycle enthusiasts staged an annual Big Bike Sunday.

The Girder Fork and Classic Motorcycle Club event raised an unprecedented £1,500 for charity.

The money will be given to Oxenhope Sue Ryder hospice Manorlands and the air ambulance service.

More than 560 people attended the event, at Skipton Auction Mart.

And a Concours competition – open to historic, classic and modern motorcycles, scooters and specials – attracted 100 entries.

"The event was a huge success," said club vice-chairman Brian Sanderson.

"It also included a presentation of cheques from last year's event, by our master of ceremonies Roger Henderson."

The Girder Fork club was started in the 1990s, and met monthly at Steeton Hall until the building closed last year.

It now meets at the Swan Inn, Carleton, on the first Tuesday of each month.
