EMBSAY-with-Eastby Parish Council has raised a formal objection to recent plans for the construction of 21 dwellings and new access at land off Laurel Croft and Main Street.

Major concerns include access from the site to the rear of the village hall, the loss of an important and historically significant open space in the centre of the village and the “excessively” high density of housing within a limited space.

The council is also worried about the intrusion of the proposal into a conservation area, the removal of mature, aesthetically important trees and the impact of the development on the existing problems with the local sewerage infrastructure.

The objections followed presentations from a large number of local residents who had attended the meeting to raise their own concerns about the proposed development.
