A BULL has been sold for £1,250 and the money donated to a trust set up to buy a form of cancer treatment.

Bentham farmer George Houghton sold his pedigree stock bull at Gisburn Auction Market to raise funds for the trust set up in memory of his wife, Betty, who died from cancer.

Mr Houghton aims to raise £2.4 million to buy a radiotherapy cyberknife. He started the trust up with £30,000 of his own money and has since raised an additional £4,000.

He plans to sale ten fat lambs at Gisburn Auction Mart on July 26.
