TEN girls in a newly established Barnoldswick Rainbows unit made their promises in a ceremony earlier this month

"We saw there was a demand a need for another Rainbows unit in Barnoldswick," said leader Maureen Davis, who helped set up the 7th Barnoldswick Rainbows at the Independent Methodist Church, on Walmsgate.

A £200 grant from Barnoldswick Town Council has helped the group fund equipment, materials for craft activities and a Rainbows flag.

The girls making their promises were Evie McCallum, Polly Gedling, Imogene Eames, Mia Dowling, Lois Goddard, Evie Holt, Maddie Barker, Clarice Porter, Georgia Bolland and Rosie Williams.

In addition to Maureen, other leaders in the 7th Barnoldswick Rainbows are Andrea Sumner and leader in training Janet Gill.

The new Rainbows unit accommodates 15 girls, aged five to seven, but it already has a waiting list.
