THE British Red Cross has a few places left for Yorkshire walkers to experience some of Craven's stunning scenery.

The Yorkshire Three Peaks challenge will take place on Saturday and covers 24.5 miles taking in Penyghent, Whernside and Ingleborough.

Max Newton, the charity's senior community fundraiser, said: "This is a fantastic walk and, although tough in places, it’s incredibly rewarding when you finish. The views at the top of each of the three peaks are incredible.

“By walking with the Red Cross you’ll benefit from our extensive support team on the day to ensure that as many people as possible complete the walk. It’s a challenge, but anyone can give it a go.”

Entry to the event costs £10 and there is no minimum sponsorship.

Money raised will enable the Red Cross to help people whose lives have been devastated by crises and disasters both in Yorkshire and overseas.

Max added: "It could be a house fire that leaves a family homeless and wondering what to do next. It could be a major flood that leaves a community in turmoil. Or it could be an earthquake, tsunami or famine that brings a whole country to its knees.”
