RECEPTION pupils at Settle Primary School are enjoying a summer of fun.

Not only are the children, part of the school’s Ofsted-rated Outstanding Early Years Foundation Stage, doing all their usual activities for the closing weeks of the summer term, teacher Amy Greenwood has lined up some new lessons to round off their year in reception.

As well as a trip to Hesketh Park Farm, sports days and dressing up days, reception children have been going swimming and linking with Malham Tarn Field Centre for some exciting outdoor activities.

Miss Greenwood said: “All the other classes in school have regular swimming lessons at Settle Pool and now it is reception’s turn to join in. We have also arranged to visit Malham Tarn Field Centre for nature study and play. We are very pleased to have established this link and are looking forward to working with the staff at the centre to give our children a fantastic outdoor experience of the natural world.”

Headteacher Richard Wright said: “Ofsted has already recognised our reception and nursery provision as outstanding - and it is now getting even better. Miss Greenwood and her team do a truly fantastic job and we are very proud of our Early Years Foundation Stage at Settle Primary School.”
