CROWDS turned out to support Ingleton Gala on Saturday - despite the heavy showers.

The rain stopped long enough for the parade and, despite the bad weather, the day was well supported and enjoyed by all.

Taking pride of place was this year's gala queen, Millie Steel, who was transported on a specially decorated float alongside attendants Ava Rollinson, Tilly-Mai Robinson, Katie Metcalf, Ellie Ramwell, Evie Angus, Lea Hird and Finley Robinson.

She was crowned on the gala field by her predecessor Isobel Morphet.

Lancaster Batala Band provided a wonderful display, as too did Ben Slinger and his team of BMX bikers, who demonstrated their skills in wet, slippy conditions to great applause.

Local lad, Ben, 20, has held British, European and World Championship titles in the Trials BMX field.

After the gala, the children's disco was enjoyed by the younger members of the community, and one three-year-old boy, called Josh, warrants a mention as a magician of the future. He showed incredible poise and skills in spinning and balancing plates.

Ingleton Football Club and Young Farmers also held a post-gala summertime party night for over 18s.
