ERMYSTED'S Grammar School pupil Joseph Coates could soon be challenging the likes of Steven Spielberg and Martin Scorsese.

The year seven pupil triumphed at the school's second Ermytainers Film Festival, which is organised and run by students.

HisTen Things I Wish I Knew About Starting Ermysted's picked up the best film award after winning votes from both the judges and the audience and Joseph was also named the best director.

Other award winners were: best actor in a leading role - Angus McMeekin (Outception); best supporting actor - Zach Webster (Four Inch Feet); best cinematography - Four Inch Feet (Matthew Williams); best screenplay - Four Inch Feet (Matthew Williams).

The enrichment award was shared by two films called Run. The first was put together by Nathan Fong, Matthew Shelley, Victor Haynes, Tomos Day and Oliver Wildman and the second by Declan Huppach, Martin Wakefield, Jacob Law, Benjamin Summersgill and Max Misaljevich.

"It was a great night and everyone enjoyed themselves thoroughly," said Toby Symonds, one the festival organisers.

Fourteen year 10 boys also took part in a festival workshop and their work was also shown alongside the seven films made by boys from throughout the school.
