THE sun shone on the 35th Clapham Street Fair on Saturday.

The event was initially held to raise money for repairs to the village's St James' Church and has gone from strength to strength.

There was music from Batala, the Lancaster samba band and Dales Jam, Craven’s own community jazz band.

For those seeking more vigorous activity, Clapham Cave Rescue Organisation ran its Olympics which included a climbing wall, archery and hide and seek with the search and rescue dog.

Younger visitors found games and face painting in the children’s tent and could then visit the tiny sheep from Greenlands Farm Village.

The 50 classic cars attracted great interest and, in addition, there were 24 stalls from both St James' Church and a range of other community groups – all raising funds for good causes.

The day came to a climax with the duck race organised by Clapham Village Hall. The dry weather conditions meant that this was swum on a shorter course than usual this year but still provided much excitement for the large crowds with a beak-to-beak finish!
