DAVE and Mary Anne Burrows, who have given more than 60 years to Scouting, have stood down as Assistant District Commissioner and District Cub Scout Leader of the Ingleborough District.

Since Dave joined as a cub and Mary Ann as a guide, they have dedicated most of their lives to the support of youth movements.

But, they have now stood down from their posts and their remarkable commitment was recognised at a recent district camp where they were presented with gifts in appreciation of the decades of dedication.

Both Scouters have led sections, acted as charity trustees and taken on managerial positions, Dave as District Commissioner during the troubled foot and mouth crisis.

Several years ago Dave and Mary Anne were awarded the Medal of Merit in recognition of their excellent services.

Such is their dedication that last year they travelled to Cheshire then Scotland to support Assistant District Commissioner, Chris Maudsley, during his fundraising trike ride from Lands End to John O’Groats.

Mary Anne will be particularly remembered for her efficiently organised Beaver and Cub events and considerable craft talent, and Dave for his highly successful fundraising Model Rail Fairs and his interest in photography.

Dave and Mary Anne will remain involved with local Scouting but at a more leisurely pace.
