A NEW homes development in Skipton is inspiring brickies of the future after students were treated to a behind the scenes look at modern construction methods.

House builder Lovell hosted a visit from 12 students at Leeds College of Building (LCB) at its Lambert Hills development in Granville Street.

It is building 57 new homes, including houses and apartments, at the former Craven District Council offices.

Matt Jarvis, regional health and safety adviser, said: “The aim of the event was to show students how we’re building our homes of the future and the construction methods we’re using to meet the standards of sustainability required for today’s homes."

The 16 to 18 year olds, who are studying carpentry and joinery, were accompanied by lecturer, Roy Turpin.

He said: “The students are all studying at level one and had never been on site before, so it gave them a good insight into the industry and a feel for what life is like on site."
