A CRAVEN hotel and a Skipton pub are in the running for a prestigious White Rose Award.

The Coniston Hotel, Coniston Cold, is up for three possible awards - large hotel, outstanding customer service and business tourism, while the Angel Inn, Hetton, has been shortlisted in the restaurant with rooms category.

The Castle Inn, Skipton - run by town councillor Calvin Dow - is one of six shortlisted in the best pub section, and Malham National Park and Tourist Information Centre is one of the finalists in the visitor information centre.

Winners of the Welcome to Yorkshire awards will be announced at a festival themed ceremony at the Yorkshire Events Centre, Harrogate, on November 17.

Colin Mellors, chairman of the independent judging panel, said it was tremendous to see so many new businesses entering the competition this year.

"Yorkshire has been centre stage this summer for its hospitality and spirit of enterprise, and the White Rose Awards are a celebration of the imaginative and innovative work of colleagues in this key business sector."

Gary Verity, chief executive of Welcome to Yorkshire, said it was sure to be a very special event.

"This year has been one none of us will forget in a hurry , and this year's awards are the perfect opportunity for us to reflect and say thank you to all the fantastic Yorkshire businesses that have made 2014 such a triumph."

The ceremony , which will include a champagne reception and gala dinner, is expected to be attended by people throughout the tourism industry, plus celebrities.

Tickets for the ceremony at £60 can be booked via the website whiteroseawards.com
