A CROSS Hills youth group has raised £750 towards two charities in support of one of its members who is recovering from a brain tumour.

Nine-year-old Tyler Manley from Glusburn is a member of the Friends Are Us youth group and all the children participated in raising money for her two nominated charities - The Sick Children’s Trust and Ward 52 at Leeds General Infirmary.

Leader Helen Spilman praised the outstanding effort put in by the children.

She said: “All the children came up with ideas on how to raise some money and as well as the usual tombola and raffle we had ‘Guess the Cheese’ and a darts competition just for kids.

"It was a fantastic turn out and we also had donations from Tyler’s family and Craven College, I would like to thank the community and shops of CrossHills for donating fantastic raffle prize”.

Some of the money will be spent on buying new toys for the children’s ward at LGI where Tyler is still receiving treatment.
