NEARLY £350 was raised for Marie Curie Cancer Care at the first-ever Blooming Great Tea Party held at Sandholme Close, Giggleswick.

An assortment of cakes, tea, coffee and juice were served and the event featured a raffle, tombola and a bran tub for the children - and because the weather was so nice, barbecued burgers and sausages were also served.

The Settle and Ribblesdale Marie Curie group thanked everyone for making the day a success, including Skipton and Ripon MP Julian Smith, who popped in with his family.

"It was nice to see him and give us some of his valuable time," said treasurer Erika Lynn. "We made a grand total £345.23. Since joining as a group in October 2013, so far we have raised £4,032.45."
