A SMALL group gathered alongside the war memorial, in Skipton High Street, on Friday, at 11am, to commemorate Victory in Japan (VJ) Day.
It marked the end of the 1939-45 conflict in the Pacific with the surrender of the Japanese in August, 1945.
The service was conducted by Father Andrew Summersgill of St Stephen's Church, Skipton, and the Last Post and Reveille were played by the Skipton branch of the Royal British Legion bugle band.
