STUDENTS at Aireville School, Skipton, have presented a £223 cheque to Help for Heroes.

And a similar donation was made to the Friends of Lochnagar - a charity which maintains an historical site on the Somme battlefield.

The money was raised by donations from audiences who attended performances of the school’s innovative and highly-acclaimed production of Tunstill’s Men at Grassington Festival.

The play, which tells the story of local volunteers in the First World War, will be staged again in Skipton and in Settle in September to mark the centenary of the original recruitment campaign.

Receiving the Help for Heroes cheque, local co-ordinator Antony Went said it was good to see young people taking an interest in the charity and the students were a credit to the school.
