CONTROVERSIAL plans to site a 65ft high wind turbine at Stirton Grange, Stirton, have been thrown out by Craven District Council.
It was refused under delegated powers, without reaching planning committee, on the grounds on insufficient information of a "site specific noise assessment to demonstrate the proposed turbine would not result in any unacceptable harm to the occupiers of neighbouring properties".
It was planned that electricity generated from the turbine - about the height of the Angel of the North - would be used by the owners of Stirton Grange with the remainder being sold back to the National Grid.
It received 23 letters of objection, in addition to an objection of Stirton and Thorlby Parish Council.
