VILLAGERS will hear details of a plan to take over a pub for their community in a public meeting on Tuesday.
And they will be invited to invest in the project started by a group of villagers to buy the Punch Bowl in Burton-in-Lonsdale, which is being sold by Blackburn-based brewers Thwaites.
Guest speaker at the meeting, in the village hall at 7.30pm, will be Martin Booth, a director of Hudswell Community Pub Limited which owns the George and Dragon in Hudswell. It became community-owned in 2010.
Burton residents succeeded in getting the Punch Bowl listed as an asset of community value, which has prevented the pub being sold to anyone else for six months. That moratorium ends on September 24.
