PERSISTENT drizzle failed to dampen the spirits and good humour of people at Hebden Sports on Monday.

There was a good turnout, with plenty of fun and entertainment for all.

Secretary Terese Wilson said: "High spirits and friendly competitiveness were served up in equal measure on the racetrack whether it be balancing an egg on a spoon without the aid of a thumb on top or dashing along in leaps and bounds whilst contained in a hessian sack."

The fell races were again a great success, with club runners and amateurs scaling the terrain of Hebden Fell. The senior winner was Lee Athersmith.

Terese added: "The fancy dress competition nicely brought the day to a close with outfits of varying themes, which obviously had taken hours of preparation and thought. It was a great day overall."
