TWO boys from Cross Hills have the world of video gaming at their fingertips.

Thomas Davies, 14, and his brother, Jaden Davies, five, of Beckfield Close, took part in the 2014 Pokemon Video Gaming World Championships in Washington DC.

Thomas finished 51st and Jaden, 36th.

Their mother, Ruth Davies, said her sons qualified for the championships after doing well at two European tournaments in May.

Thomas, a pupil at South Craven School, has been playing Pokemon on his Nintendo DS since 2007 and finished 10th in his age class at the Pokemon National Championships in Bochun, Germany in May and 14th at a similar UK and Ireland event held in Manchester.

Jaden, a pupil at Sutton C of E Primary School who only got his first DS at Christmas, finished seventh in his age group in Germany and third at the tournament in Manchester. He is ranked fourth in Europe, while Thomas is 15th in his age group.

"They were the only two boys in Yorkshire to qualify," said Ruth. "I'm so, so proud and I just wanted to tell the world!"

She added: "I think this game is great because they're interacting with other people."
