CLECKHEATON suffered a batting meltdown for the second successive Sunday as they crashed out of the Black Sheep Yorkshire Champions' Trophy.

Having lost to Pudsey St Lawrence in the Sovereign Health Care Priestley Cup final the previous weekend, Cleck went down by 150 runs at home to York in their semi-final – the day after retaining the JCT600 Bradford League championship.

Glenn Richmond (3-34) removed Cleckheaton's top three – Andy Gorrod, Tim Jackson and Ian Nicholson – and the rest of the innings then crumbled as their vulnerability to spin bowling was exposed again.

Wily skipper Daniel Woods took 3-6 as Cleckheaton were102 all out in reply to York's 252 (Ryan McKendry 70).

Only Tanzeel Altaf, who followed up his 4-57 with 30, saved Cleckheaton from greater humiliation in front of a large crowd.

However, injuries did not help the hosts. With skipper John Wood (Achilles) already prevented from bowling, his brother Ian broke down after just two balls with a recurrence of a knee injury.
