EMBSAY Village Hall will be ablaze with colour on Saturday when the village show its staged.

It has been held every year since the end of the Second World War and this year's event will run from 2.30pm to 4.30pm, with classes for flowers, fruit and vegetables, baking and preserves, handicrafts and photograph.

The show is organised under the auspices of the Embsay with Eastby Village Gardening Club and this year there is an enthusiastic new organising team taking on the work formerly done by the show secretaries. Entry is £1 for adults and children are free and refreshments will be served throughout the afternoon. Prizes and trophies will be presented about 4pm.

The club is inviting new members to its autumn session, which begins on Friday, October 10 when the speaker will be Yorkshire Dales National Park ranger Phil Richards.
