CROSS Hills Post Office will next week move into the village’s Spar mini-market.
The present branch in Prospect Street will close on Thursday, September 25, at 5.30pm.
Staff will reopen for business at 1pm the following day at three new counters in the Spar on Main Street.
The new branch will operate Monday to Saturday between 9am and 5.30pm from a screened position and an open counter.
Selected Post Office products and services will also be available from Spar’s retail counter between 5.30am and 10.30pm seven days a week.
Post Office Ltd announced the closure of the present Cross Hills branch in March, launching a six week public consultation period.
Adrian Wales, the Post Office’s regional network manager, said the opening hours would increase to an extra 73 hours a week making the new branch more convenient.
He said: “We know how important Post Office services are to residents in Cross Hills and we are confident that this vibrant modern Post Office in the heart of the community will be popular.
“The modernisation is part of a major Government investment programme that is enabling us to continue investing in the Post Office network and map out a bold growth strategy through to the end of the decade.”
