THE governors of two schools which are proposing to join together in a 'federation' will answer questions at a public meeting in Grassington Town Hall on Wednesday.

Kettlewell Primary School and Upper Wharfedale School are already in partnership, sharing a headteacher and staff, and are now seeking to formalise the arrangement by becoming federated.

Kettlewell chairman of governors Anne Vetch said: "This is about ensuring a sustainable future for both schools. The partnership has worked extremely well, with educational benefits, economies of scale and sharing expertise, and this move will give it a tighter legal framework.

"Governors should be able to answer all questions and explain what it will mean for both schools, so we would like as many people as possible to come along and find out what it's all about."

The public meeting - which starts at 6.30pm - is part of the legal process for federation.
