A GROUP of Settle lads cycled the Leeds and Liverpool Canal and raised £3,500 for a children's charity Jack's Journey and Settle Football Club.

The 16, who all either play for or are supporters of the club, took 16-and-a-half hours to cycle the 130 miles from Liverpool to Leeds.

Last year, the group tackled the Yorkshire Three Peaks, and next year, they're planning the national three peaks.

"We had lots of help and support, and managed to raise the money just from people in Settle," said Daniel Mellor.

Settle Three Peaks Cycles and Mick Mouncey, who also took part in the ride, lent the bikes for the trip, and Go Electrical JW Garnett handed over a van for the day.

"I'd also really like to thank Sam and Emma Porter, and Laura Mouncey, for providing the food and drink, and Wayne Dunn for driving the van," added Daniel.

In addition to Daniel and Mick, those who took part were: Ryan Dunn, Adam Smith, Sam Arrowsmith, Ben Phillip, Matthew Baines, Matthew Cardus, Russell East, Dan Fox, Elliott Firth, George Gowland, Paul Ambrose, Trevor Jones, Daniel Bathers and Craig Porter.
