THE team at Herriot's Hotel, Skipton, is challenging people to get baking.

It wants people to create a cake before it holds its World's Biggest Coffee Morning in the Rhubarb Restaurant next Friday, September 26.

As well as its own homemade cakes, biscuits, tea and coffee, it hopes to boost funds further by taking advantage of the Facebook nomination craze that has already raised thousands for charity.

General manager Chris Fenton said: "We are inviting people to nominate their Facebook friends to bake a cake now before our coffee morning on September 26.

"There are three easy steps to follow: 1 When nominated, upload a photo of you and your cake to Herriots Hotel & Rhubarb Restaurant facebook page and include #Herriotscakechallenge; 2 Text CUPPA42K to donate £5 to Macmillan Cancer Support; 3 Share with your friends and nominate them to do the same."

The best cake posted on the page will win a night's stay at the hotel, along with a bottle of bubbly, chocolates in the room and a six-course taster meal in the Rhubarb Restaurant.

Assistant manager Emily Whitaker, who is hosting the event, added: "We wanted a way of getting as many people involved as possible and this way if you can't get to our coffee morning, you can still help to raise money, enjoy the delicious cake you have baked and have a chance to win our great prize."
