A BRAKES malfunction forced a bus to make an emergency stop, blocking an entrance to Skipton's High Street car park on Monday morning.
"The brakes got hot and seized up, so I stopped straight away," said Doug Harrison, driver of the National Holidays coach that blocked the Jerry Croft entrance to the town hall car park.
As Mr Harrison threw buckets of water on the brakes to cool them down and waited for the arrival of a repair team, ambassadors from Skipton Town Council directed cars and pedestrians safely away from the bus and to the other car park entrance on Rectory Lane.
Judy Probst, a Skipton Town Council ambassador, said: "It was a case of everybody working together to manage people and traffic."
