YOUNG Becky Ackroyd was in the firing line at a fundraiser event in Silsden on Saturday.

She was the target of wet sponges - all part of a mayhem and fun day organised by Silsden All Star Majorettes.

Other attractions included a visit from Darth Vader, face painting and glitter tattoos.

The event was held to boost the majorettes' own funds and to raise cash for Manorlands Hospice.

"We have a close association with Manorlands," said fundraiser Tina Ackroyd. "We also need to raise money to cover our travel expenses.

"During the season, which runs from Easter to the end of August, we spend £800 a week going to competitions in Liverpool."

Currently, the majorettes - whose members range from tots to adults - are getting ready to move back into Silsden Town Hall, where training sessions will restart on Tuesday, October 7 at 6pm. Anyone interested in joining is welcome to go along.
